The Calgary office took on the task of designing, installing and commissioning a replacement solution for discrete component control. This control transfers primary 25 kV utility service between two feeders. This is a critical application in all Calgary 25 kV serviced buildings, which are problematic due to age and design variables.

Magna IV Engineering (Calgary) Ltd. was requested to design and install a solution for obsolete primary utility connection breakers. Minimum oil technology was replaced with more reliable vacuum type. The retrofit was completed on subsequent weekends with protection upgrades to digital processor type at the same time.

Calgary resources have provided annual maintenance to this facility for over 10 years. This work takes place on an alternating two-year plan with one year concentrating on high voltage distribution and the second on low voltage equipment. As well as maintenance Magna has provided engineering/supply and install assistance for several projects including upgrading 25KV switching locations. We also continue to provide technical resources and emergency callout as necessary.
