Our Calgary office provided a "turnkey" service to
the plant on replacing three (3) indoor transformers.
This project was staged over 3 years for both budget
and scheduling reasons. Impact on plant productions
was negligible.
Requirements included detailed site measurements to
insure new equipment exactly matched site conditions.
The new transformers were supplied with R-Temp Fluid
and integration with existing primary and secondary
switchgear was seamless. One substation was upgraded
to allow for an additional 50% capacity. The contaminated
waste materials were prepared for shipment to a destruction
facility in accordance with applicable TDGA and environmental
regulations.
Magna IV Engineering Ltd. has the technical expertise
and required environmental coverage's to meet with any
size of project.

Our Calgary office responded in several emergency situations when transformers failed on line. This work included contamination containment, cleanup and restoration of temporary power.
Magna was further involved in planning and implementation of supply/install of new transformers and disposal of contaminated units. Part of this work involved co-ordination of specialized crane trades to lift units over an inadequately braced portion of the mall roof. All work was completed within government guidelines and regulations.
Magna IV Engineering (Calgary) Ltd. continues to provide engineering and maintenance testing

A site transformer indicated PCB contamination by way
of oil analysis. Original PCB content was greater than
200 ppm.
Magna IV removed, flushed and replaced oil over a two
year period and was able to gain PCB levels of less
/ than 50 ppm thereby allowing the unit be de-certified
and classified as PCB free.
Calgary office continues to provide engineering and
field services to the Balzac Gas Plant.
